We have all felt the stinging pain of a sunburn. When I was a kid we didn't know what sunscreen was. One day full of fun down at the swimming hole was usually followed by several days of pain and discomfort. It was worth it.
There are natural remedies to treat a sunburn. None of them involve using lotion or sprays. These were what we always used. The first step in treating a sunburn is to cool the skin.
Using ice bags or cold water may be too painful. A better way is to use a towel soaked in warm tea. The tannic acids in tea draws the burn out of the skin and heals it. Usually one application will stop the pain. To make the tea, steep many tea bags in a pot of boiling water. You want a very strong tea. Next add ice till the tea is slightly warm. Then soak a towel in the tea until it has absorbed it all. Place the towel on the sunburned areas. The warm towel will feel cool to the sunburned skin.
If the sunburned area is to big for a towel you can soak in a tub filled with tea. You will need a lot of tea bags. Be sure to clean and sanitize the tub before soaking in it.
This will stop the pain, but it won't stop the burned skin from peeling. If you want to stop the peeling try using Lavender Essential Oil. It is a miraculous natural cure for sunburn. After cooling the skin with tea, gently rub the oil over the burned area. This will keep the burn from blistering and peeling. It will also let you keep the tan color.
So throw out the old way of lotions and drugstore sprays and try this natural cure for sunburn.
